Preview: Dubai Electric Scooter Cup

For the first time in the Middle East, the world's top riders will gather in Dubai to compete in a groundbreaking electric scooter race. The Dubai Electric Scooter Cup is set to be the most intense and swift competition of its kind, organized by the Federation of Micromobility and Sports and the Dubai Sports Council.

Dubai, a city synonymous with innovation and progress, has taken the lead in hosting this internationally recognized event on December 16th in the Dubai Design District. This choice of location is significant; the Design District is a hub for creative minds, housing international and local design, arts, and fashion talents. It's a place that not only showcases creativity but also fosters a community of innovative thinkers using smart city principles.

The electric scooter race aligns perfectly with Dubai's environmental and societal goals, especially during the United Arab Emirates' Year of Sustainability. The main theme of the event emphasizes the importance of compact urban transport solutions that reduce emissions, showcasing the pinnacle of safety and performance that modern technology can offer. The race will feature the RS-Zero: DXB Edition, the world’s fastest racing scooter, capable of speeds over 140 km/h and designed to deliver top performance with a tilt angle exceeding 58 degrees.

The event is garnering significant attention across the Middle East, showcasing Dubai as a futuristic city and leader in advanced mobility solutions. The organizers have ensured that all race elements, including the scooters and trophies, are locally produced in Dubai. This race also promotes gender equality, allowing male and female riders to compete together without segregation.

On December 16th, sixteen of the sport's elite will vie for the title in a knockout format, with the semi-finals and finals scheduled between 16:00 and 17:30 local time. An earlier celebrity race will take place from 14:00 to 15:00. The event is open to the public free of charge, with fans welcome to watch the practice sessions the day before the main race.

Participants hail from diverse locations including the USA, UK, India, South Africa, Estonia, Japan, Spain, the Republic of Ireland, Switzerland, and Italy, adding a global flavor to this high-stakes competition.
